Traditional gender stereotypes often exclude women from decision-making fields. Even where certain positions of responsibility are enabled, they are often restricted to less influential areas of governance. Providing aspiring leaders and allies with the necessary skills for empowerment is a crucial step to break the glass ceiling. To that end, accentuating efforts of capacity-building for women leadership lies at the core of UNITAR’s vision for the Agenda 2030. Earlier this year, the Institute’s work...
March 2019 - UNITAR has reached over 50,000 people every year for the past three years. While these successes are of course welcome, they present a challenge in assessing how well UNITAR is performing, especially regarding learning events. UNITAR always conducts evaluations of...

Food systems are simultaneously a leading cause of environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources. Currently, food systems are responsible for a significant 20 percent of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and are a major driver of land conversion, deforestation and loss of biodiversity. With the world’s population predicted to expand to 9.7 billion individuals by 2050, these environmental impacts do not make current food systems sustainable. According to the most recent report published in 2019 by The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC):

3 December 2021, Geneva, Switzerland – For as long as corruption thrives, climate action cannot succeed. It has been empirically established that corruption fuels climate change and that climate action plans without anti-corruption action are ripe for failure. As we are all experiencing, as individuals and within our respective communities, failure is not an option. This is why the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) demand urgent action to combat climate change and to fight corruption in all its forms.
The intricate links between corruption and...
