16 September 2021, New York, USA - The UN Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, Mr. Nikhil Seth, is visiting New York during the high-level period of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This is an official visit to the opening of the seventy-sixth session of the UNGA.

13 September 2021, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, in partnership with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Singapore to the United Nations as Chair of the Forum of Small States (FOSS), concluded a two-day course entitled “Briefing New Delegates on the Work of the 76th General Assembly” with approximately 331 participants attending. Mr. Marco A. Suazo, Head of UNITAR office in New York, Highlighted the message of the General Assembly and how important it is to deliver it. He then welcomed Mr. Nikhil Seth, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Executive Director of UNITAR, for his remarks.

8 September, New York USA, virtual seminar – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Office in New York successfully launched the Joint Swiss-UNITAR Briefing on United Nations Budgetary Matters training series on Tuesday, 7th September 2021. The four-half day virtual training programme, co-organized with the Permanent Mission of Switzerland, caters to the needs of the incoming delegates of the United Nations General Assembly’s Fifth Committee. The first two sessions have directly benefited more than 100 delegates each session from numerous Member States.

On 13 August, 2021, New York, USA (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office concluded a two-week online training programme with Harbour Education on Friday, August 13, 2021. This online training programme is catered for students who want to develop a better understanding in working in the international organizations. It aims to provide them with necessary knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations, negotiations and international communications.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) office in New York organized a two-day virtual workshop entitled “Advanced Drafting Skills” on 19-20 July 2021. It focused on techniques and ways to maintain goodwill, the use of professional expressions, and UN common language.

14 July 2021, New York, USA (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office second series of training on Wednesday, 14 July catered for the members of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ireland. This training aims to prepare government officials for the work and responsibilities of the Security Council. The comprehensive training reached more than 50 government officials from the ministry, embassies around the world, and the capital with necessary knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the work of the United Nations.

06 July 2021, New York, USA - On July 6, United Nations Institute for Training and Research in partnership with United Nations Department of Economics and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and United Nations Climate Change Convention (UNCCC) hosted the launch of their e-learning course Harnessing Climate and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Synergies.

06-12 July 2021, New York, USA. The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) office in New York organized their traditional five-day virtual Event, “SDG Learning, Training & Practice 2021” jointly with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs which will be held from 06-12 July 2021.

21 June 2021, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) New York Office organized a full-day virtual event, “The Structure, Drafting, and Adoption of United Nations Resolutions” on 21 July 2021. This training was supported with funding allocated from the Swedish International Development Agency’s (SIDA) contribution to the UNITAR Strategic Framework Fund, under the programme ‘Leveling The Playing Field’ which focuses on the development of skills and knowledge of Least Developing Countries. The workshop was attended by approximately 178 delegates from Permanent Missions to the UN who joined virtually from around the world. Mr. Marco A. Suazo, representing UNITAR’s New York Office, opened the seminar and briefed the event’s topic of UN resolutions and introduced panelists.

9 June 2021, New York, USA - Following the Report of the Secretary-General (E/2021/49), the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) Headquarters and the New York office started preparations for delivering the report to the United Nations Member States, and consultations in order to produce the legislative response from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations Member States.
