1 June 2020, Malaga, Spain - UNITAR’s affiliated International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Malaga (CIFAL Malaga), with the support of UNICAJA Bank Foundation are pleased to present the “2030 Agenda and the SDGs Pedagogical Manual”, which aims to equip teachers with practical knowledge about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and targets to educate primary and secondary schoolchildren on these topics.

Launched on 20 May 2020, a new consortium project Crowd4SDG will aim to examine opportunities for leveraging citizen science for monitoring climate impacts and achieving climate resilience. It is Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Action supported by the European Commission's Science with and for Society (SwafS) programme. In addition to UNITAR, the consortium coordinated by the University of Geneva (UNIGE) includes a number of other leading European research centers and University: Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI), Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity of University of Paris (UPD) and CERN.

19 May 2020, Atlanta, USA – UNITAR in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology, Kennesaw State University and CIFAL Atlanta hosted a virtual showcase to present their “Youth & Sustainable Development Goals” online training programme aimed at empowering young leaders to implement solutions that advance the global goals.

15 May 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - UNITAR and Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) launched its first joint online course on Fundamentals of Microfinance as part of a series of online courses aimed at supporting financial inclusion initiatives across the Middle East and Africa.

5 May 2020, Madrid, Spain - UNITAR and the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Madrid (CIFAL Madrid) together with RACE and the European University are pleased to open its 2020 edition of the Postgraduate Programme “Expert in Road Safety Management and Administration”. The four-week academic programme aims to equip participants with knowledge about strategic initiatives that have been successful in reducing road traffic crashes.

A number of Master’s degrees in partnership with esteemed universities around the world have already successfully been launched and have become an integral part of UNITAR’s portfolio, but cooperation with universities and other institutes for higher education involves more than these instances.

20 April 2020, Merida, Mexico – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Merida (CIFAL Merida) jointly with the Southeast Airport Group (ASUR), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Airports Council International- Latin America & the Caribbean joined forces to carry out the XV International Seminar on Hurricane Preparedness on 10-11 March 2020 in Merida, Mexico.
