28 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland – The Global Plan of Action Coordination Unit, hosted by UNITAR, has embarked on its first field project, together with colleagues from UNHCR Djibouti, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the German Foreign Ministry. To kick off the project, the team has developed a set of common objectives with major humanitarian and host government partners in Djibouti. They also assessed the current state of energy provision in two of the three refugee camps in the country, as well as in other premises used for humanitarian operations that support displaced people, such as food and medicine storage centres.
The project jointly developed by UN CC:Learn/UNITAR and AGRHYMET Regional Center (ARC) has been launched in Niger
5-6 June 2019, Singen, Germany - UN CC:Learn participated in Nestle’s annual awareness raising event with a focus on Safety, Health, Environment & Food Safety. The so-called SHE & Quality Days took place at Nestle’s R&D center in Singen, Germany. The Product Technology Center is responsible for developing new products in the field of "food", such as soups, sauces, pizza, seasoning, bouillons, for countries all around the world.

22 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - The Division for Multilateral Diplomacy (DMD) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) successfully hosted the second cohort of students of the International Leaders Professional Diploma Program in a 6-day in-depth workshop in Geneva from the 12th to 18th of June 2019.
15 July 2019, New York, USA – In the framework of the High-Level Political Forum 2019: Empowering People and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality, UNITAR launched an interactive e-learning Road Safety Toolkit that presents a practical management methodology to:
• Collect data on the number and location of deaths by road user type
• Identify hazardous and critical road locations and sections where excessive numbers or severity of crashes occur
• Outline corrective measures
• Implement interventions and monitor results

17 July 2019, Jeju, Republic of Korea - The International Training Centres for Authorities and Leaders in Jeju (CIFAL Jeju) and in Newcastle (CIFAL Newcastle) hosted the 14th Youth Workshop on Engagement for Sustainable Consumption and Production from 10 to 12 July 2019 in Jeju, South Korea. The workshop gathered students from different backgrounds and nationalities including 20 students from the University of Newcastle in Australia, and 27 Korean and International students enrolled in various universities in the Republic of Korea.
17 July 2019, Curitiba, Brazil- The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Curitiba (CIFAL Curitiba) jointly with the Federation of Industries of the State of Parana (FIEP) System and Faculties of Industry held a workshop on “Innovating 2030: Thinking about the SDGs” on 29 June 2019. This event provided a venue for dialogue amongst industrial automation and mechanical manufacturing students to think and discuss innovative solutions to social, environmental and economic problems. Students as future leaders are pivotal in order to tackle urgent global challenges through innovation.
5 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Harvard Medical School's Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), committing to bringing surgical, obstetrical and anaesthesia care into the mainstream discussions of global health.
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Total E&P Nigeria Limited have signed an agreement to promote plastic recycling in Nigeria. This is in view of the present challenges of plastic wastes pollution in Nigeria.
