4 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - On the 10th and 11th of June 2019, the Division for Multilateral Diplomacy (DMD) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research successfully hosted a Workshop on Digital Diplomacy, which marked the last workshop in its series of Core Diplomatic Trainings for the 4th Edition of the Executive Diploma in Diplomatic Practice. 19 participants were in attendance including diplomats, international development specialists, entrepreneurs and professionals from the private sector.
1-3 July 2019, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – UNITAR with the support of Diageo and in collaboration with IARD conducted a three-day in-depth practical training workshop for law enforcement officers from the Dominican Republic to implement a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) campaign. 25 Police Officers from the National Safety Agency for Transit and Transport (Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre, DIGESETT) took part in the training.
2 July 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have successfully delivered a joint online course on Agriculture in International Trade Agreements in Russian for the eleven countries of Europe and Central Asia, also known as the post-Soviet countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
17-19 June 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - UNITAR successfully hosted a training workshop on “Parliamentary Monitoring and Oversight of Sustainable Development Goals” that promoted good governance practices among 16 Speakers of the County Assemblies of Kenya in their oversight and monitoring roles.
24 June 2019, Geneva, Switzerland – In February 2019, the CommonSensing project was officially launched in Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands and the project has now moved forward to Phase 2: Addressing Needs. CommonSensing aims to support three selected Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) with improving national climate resilience through the use of satellite remote sensing applications.
17-21june 2019, Bonn, Germany - For the first time since the launch of the Climate Classrooms, UN CC:Learn brought its flagship ‘espresso shot’ of knowledge series to participants of the Bonn Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany (SB 50). The conference is one of the most important climate change events of the year, crucial for unlocking the negotiations in advance of the UN Climate Change Conference in Santiago, Chile, in December 2019 (COP 25). Over 6,000 decision-makers, government officials, practitioners, academics, and students from around the world attended the SB 50.

15 – 16 May 2019, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) teamed up and co-organized the Learning Conference Implementing the 2030 Agenda in the Caribbean Region. The conference was attended by more than 70 participants including government officials from 21 Caribbean nations leading the SDGs process in their countries, international civil servants, as well as representatives from the civil society and private sector.
