27 September 2022, Plock, Poland – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Plock hosted the “City Coders Hackathon Plock” on 25-26 September, bringing together 81 participants, mostly high schoolers and university students to develop an application that would respond to the needs of the city residents.

Young innovators, under the supervision of experienced experts were tasked with designing solutions related to one of the three proposed topics: Social Inclusion, Renewable energy and City for the Youth.

Hackathon is not only about competition, programming and coding. As organizers, we place great emphasis on providing participants with knowledge that will be helpful at the stage of commercialization of created projects and setting up your own business. I am sure that supporting the potential of these extremely ambitious and talented young people will help them succeed, and the designed solutions will serve the inhabitants of Płock for a long time

This year's Hackathon took place during the European Week of Sustainable Development, therefore the issues addressed by the participants were related to the directions of action set out in the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals.

During these two days, students were also introduced to the Autosobriety Training Programme to Prevent Drink Driving.  Students were encouraged to conduct the Autosobriety online course on UNITAR’s virtual learning environment and microlearning course. Participants were also able to watch the 360 Virtual Reality video to experience the effect of alcohol on driving performances.
