09 July 2024, New York, United States – The Women in Cyber Fellowship, an innovative initiative by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office in partnership with the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and the United States Department of State held its seventh fellowship convening at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This fellowship ran from July 1-5 wherein they welcomed 34 fellows from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and regions in developing countries, introducing them to critical United Nations and Cyber issues.

At the heart of Bhutan's evolving landscape, Mr. Chokila emerges as a key figure in driving geospatial developments. In his role as Superintendent Survey Engineer at the National Land Commission Secretariat (NLCS), his collaboration with UNITAR-UNOSAT has been instrumental in this progress. Chokila's quest for professional improvements led him to enrol in UNOSAT's training courses, which are part of the project “Strengthening Capacities in the Use of Geospatial Information for Improved Resilience in Asia-Pacific and Africa (2021-2024)”. He has taken part in various courses, including “UAV Unmanned Aerial Vehicle  Data Collection, Processing and Mapping”, “Cloud GIS and Web Application Development” and “Advanced Remote Sensing for Sustainable Land Management”. Through training and implementation of advanced techniques, Chokila's journey exemplifies the tangible outcomes of integrating cutting-edge technology into Bhutan's National Land Commission Secretariat (NLCS).

1 July 2024, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR and ITS Education Asia invite motivated Asia Pacific youth to apply for the “2024 Youth Ambassador Asia Pacific Programme.” The programme will run for 8 weeks and focus on the theme “Local Solutions for Global Challenges: Youth Empowerment and Community Impact''. This training programme aims to deepen the youth’s understanding of the SDGs, strengthen their entrepreneurship skills, and assist them in developing ideas to combat community problems. The training programme will end with final presentations from the youth of their self-directed capstone projects to implement these projects in their local communities to drive positive change. The application deadline is 21 September 2024 at 6 pm HKT. The programme is open to a maximum of 5 youth per country who are located in the Asia Pacific region for the duration of the training. It will occur online for 8 consecutive Saturdays, culminating in a final virtual graduation event.

28 June 2024, New York, United States - The Global Diplomacy Initiative (GDI) had its Closing Ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters. Hosted by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, the event celebrated the achievements of the Spring 2024 Cohort of GDI Graduates. The GDI Programme offers a unique learning experience for students and professionals, enabling them to deepen their understanding of the United Nations and its operations. Participants have the chance to gain knowledge and insights from experts and diplomats in the field.
