10 March 2022, New York, United States (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office, in partnership with the Columbia Law School Mediation Clinic, kickstarted the three-event Spring 2022 presentations of the Columbia Law School Series with the first session titled, “Women and Negotiation: How to Be Your Own Ultimate Self-Advocate”. Garnering over 120 participants from around the world, the event successfully highlighted the struggles faced by women in the workplace, and how best to combat gender inequality in social settings and the workspace. The goal of this first session in the 2022 Columbia Law School Series was to underscore the tangible benefits in advocating for one’s self, highlight the gendered differences that can arise in the workplace, and show how to ask for more.
March 2022 – Raghad Hav started with a small idea and brought it to life with the help of the 2019 UNITAR training programme Empowering Social Entrepreneurs and Youth Leaders. Raghad founded She Codes Too, where she teaches Iraqi women to code.
9 March 2022, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR is hosting an online conference “Closing the Digital Divide: Strengthening Digital Literacy and Infrastructure in the Sahel Region, Iraq and Afghanistan”. The conference will explore trends in digital transformation and the digital divide and how we can foster a sustainable digital transformation for all.
7 March 2022, New York, USA, Virtual - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) together with the Navarre University from Spain, hosted a virtual roundtable on sustainable development goal 5 (SDG5) into environmental policies and practices. This event marked the International Women’s Day 2022 and the preparation for the 66th Commission of the Status of Women (CSW66).
3 March 2022, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR Division for Prosperity is launching a two-week course on Introduction to Digital Health and Digital Entrepreneurship in Sahel Region. The online training will be delivered in French from 14 March to 25 March 2022. Women, youth entrepreneurs and medical practitioners are invited to learn skills, gain knowledge, and develop attitudes to help them adapt to and participate in the digitizing world and excel in digital health and entrepreneurship.

February 2022, Geneva, Switzerland - The Private Sector Regional Centre for support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (CR/SP) and CIFAL Bogota along with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) hosted a high-level virtual conversation called “A Conversation with CEOs & Leaders” on Tuesday, 8 February 2022. For this session, the topic was “Human Rights: a pillar for Corporate Strategy & the 2030 Agenda”.
21 February 2022, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR Division for Prosperity will introduce 360-degree virtual tours to this year’s training programme on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, to be held from 25 February to 18 March 2022. UNITAR also plans to make some of the tours publicly available from the UNITAR website.
18 February 2022, Geneva, Switzerland – “Of all preventative interventions, breastfeeding has the greatest potential to improve child survival, health, development and wellbeing ”. Breastfeeding is a critical aspect in achieving SDG2 and SDG3 — which include ending hunger, improving nutrition, and promoting health.
18 February 2022, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR alumnae Tabu Elder and Baria Johnson Kibo are both passionate about empowering women and youth in Juba to better their livelihoods. Tabu is a lecturer on peace and diplomacy at the University of Juba who also volunteers for community development programmes. Baria is a broadcast journalist who is passionate about using media to air the voices of the most vulnerable people to enhance good governance and improve livelihoods.
