9 June 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - A recent G20 communique reflected a growing shared concern about the impact of COVID-19 on health networks in the countries with limited response capacities. 2021年6月10日・広島 ― 新型コロナウイルスの危機は、これまで世界が進めてきた持続可能な開発目標(SDGs)への歩みを妨げ、後戻りさせている。いまだ、パンデミックによる影響の全容は把握しきれていない。一方で、私たちが望む世界を2030年までに実現させるために、どのような行動を起こしていくのか、自身に問いかける機会も与えてくれていると言える。
上智大学のオンラインシンポジウム「コロナ禍のSDGsへのインパクトと今後の展望」での基調講演で、国連事務次長補兼国連ユニタール総代表ニキル・セスはこのように語りました。
上智大学大学院の植木安弘教授がモデレーターを務めたパネルディスカッションでは、国連開発計画（UNDP）インド常駐代表の野田章子氏やUNDP駐日代表の近藤哲生氏を交えて議論。学生など247人がオンラインで聴講しました。
セス総代表は、SDGsの17項目すべてについて、新型コロナウイルスによる現時点での影響を解説。貧困、気候変動、国際協力など多岐にわたる目標のすべてがパンデミックの打撃を受けており、世界中で格差が拡大している現状を伝えました。コロナ禍で約１憶3,200万人もの人々が慢性的な食糧不足に苦しみ、2014年以降徐々に増え始めた飢餓人口の増加に拍車をかけています。

The recent visit of the Secretary-General to the UNOSAT team set the tone of the new management phase at UNOSAT, which is now a recognised centre of excellence within the United Nations system in the areas of satellite analysis and geospatial information. While the visit of the Secretary-General confirms this recognition and is a reward to the staff, it also shows the gradual gain of importance of satellite derived information for the work of the UN. UNOSAT has spearheaded innovation in satellite analysis since its creation in 2000.

2015年9月16－21日の日程で国連ユニタール広島事務所は米国国際開発援助庁（US AID）女性開発プロジェクトと中国新聞共催で国連ユニタール アフガニスタン女子代表サッカーチームのリーダーシップとコミュニケーション能力向上研修を実施しました。
スポーツをすることには多くの利点があります。特に紛争国に住む女性にとって自尊心を高め社会参画を促進し、既存のジェンダー規範を疑問視し、リーダーとして活躍する機会を与えるなどスポーツを経験することによる多くの潜在的な利点が挙げられます[1]。本研修ではアフガニスタン女子代表サッカーチームのサッカースキルおよび個々人の能力強化を通じてアフガニスタンの発展に寄与することを目指しました。
リーダーシップスキル、チームワーク向上、コミュニケーション手法やスポーツ心理学などアフガニスタン女子代表サッカーチームのニーズに沿った研修を広島で実施しました。様々なトレーニングやコーチング手法の成功事例や選手としての課題やリーダーシップを磨く機会などについてスポーツ選手との対談を通じて学びました。また、9月20にエディオンスタジアムで開催されたアンジュビオレ広島との親善試合では懸命にプレーしました。

2021年3月18日・広島 - 近年では政治、文化及び社会経済分野における女性の活躍の場と範囲が広がりを見せていますが、国際女性デーは、20世紀の始めに女性労働者が労働条件の改善を求めたデモが起源だと言われています。ロシアでは3月8日は女性の日として1917年に公式な休日として制定されました。国連が正式に国際女性デーを制定したのは1977年。それ以降3月8日は世界的に女性の生き方を考え、活躍を称える日となりました。この100年間で働く女性は飛躍的に増え、役割も多様化しています。しかしながら、ジェンダー平等に関する課題は山積みです。
ジェンダー平等と女性のエンパワーメントは持続可能な開発（SDGs）の目標5にも掲げられている重要な要素の一つです。また、分野横断的課題としてその他の16の目標にも関連しています。しかしながら、STEM（科学・技術・工学・数学）教育を含む多くの分野でジェンダー平等の実現に向けた動きは停滞しています。UN Womenによると全世界の女性研究者の割合はわずか30％。STEM分野を勉強している女子学生は分野全体の35％です。また、STEM分野の女性研究者は男性に比べ調査研究の発表数が少なく、低賃金で昇進しにくいという最近の調査結果もあります。STEM教育は私たちの未来を築く重要な基礎です。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大でデジ...
