Gathering more than 100 participants, the event aimed at understanding one’s leadership style and approach as wee as the importance of self-awareness.

December 2022, New York, USA - For this year’s final external newsletter addition, the topic Key Takeaways from the COP27 - How UNITAR is contributing to preparing new leaders for the future, allowed us to reflect on how our work in New York throughout this year has left a footprint on the battle with climate change. COP 27, the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference, was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt this year. As a representative of the training arm of the UN Community in New York, the UNITAR worked hard this year to insure that our work paralleled the subjects addressed at COP27 to give the necessary tools and skills to our partners and beneficiaries to help protect our environment and build a safer future for the generations to come.
14 November 2022, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office (NYO) hosted a second training session entitled “Conflict Resolution in the Era of Political Polarization” in collaboration with the Columbia Law School Mediation Clinic. Gathering more than 100 participants, the event aimed at understanding the survey techniques to deal with polarization in the context of conflict resolution, examining the role of polarization in producing negotiator bias and discussing the best practices for dilemmas that arise when negotiating in polarized situations.

Gathering a total of 135 participants from around the world, the event aimed at recognizing the importance and urgency of increasing women’s meaningful participation in peace processes, discerning how to instigate change at the organizational level, and understanding how to spearhead change at the individual level.

3-6 octubre de 2022, Nueva York, USA.- La oficina de UNITAR en Nueva York junto con el Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD), y la Asociación de Mujeres Diplomáticas de la República Dominicana (ADIDOM) trabajaron en un proceso de fortalecimiento de capacidades para mujeres diplomáticas en el ámbito de negociaciones multilaterales. Tras varias sesiones enfocadas en prácticas actuales, conceptos de las Naciones Unidas, casos de estudio y ejercicios dinámicos, alrededor de 40-50 diplomáticas del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de República Dominicana y otras organizaciones iberoamericanas coincidieron que el taller constituyó una herramienta de aprendizaje en el que se brinda oportunidades de empoderamiento, mentoría, orientación, y sobre todo participación activa de las diplomáticas.
