16 March 2023, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, in partnership with the Global Foundation For the Performing Arts (GFPA) and Longy School of Music of Bard College, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the Artist Diploma Programme for the Fall 2023 semester.
Both Longy School of Music of Bard College and UNITAR are committed to breaking down barriers to a conservatory education, and we strive to provide all qualified candidates with the opportunity to join the community. The Artist Diploma Programme is designed for musicians who have extreme passion and gifts in both performance and artistry, as well as looking to gain a comprehensive understanding of global music and the role of performing arts in promoting sustainable development and peace. The programme is offered in an in-person model with a highly bespoke curriculum (Catalyst Curriculum), providing students with the flexibility they need to balance their studies with their other commitments.
The programme is designed to prepare students for successful careers as both performers and industrial reformers who are committed to using music as a tool for social change. Students in the Artist Diploma Programme will receive rigorous training in performance, pedagogy, entrepreneurship, and social justice, from a diverse curriculum that covers various aspects of performance, musical education, soft power diplomacy education, and multilateral diplomacy education, among others. This programme will be equipping students with the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the world through their music.
The artist diploma programme provides students with hands-on, real-world experience performing alongside esteemed faculty and artistic partners. The student will also have the opportunity to build a powerful network of connections within the industry while gaining valuable experience and exposure. At Longy, it's the very stage upon which will bring students ‘artistic vision to life, and an essential component of the unparalleled conservatory experience.
Applications for the Fall 2023 semester are now being accepted.
