For the Artist Diploma (A.D) program by UNITAR, Longy School of Music of Bard College, and GFPA, we are committed to providing a seamless and straightforward application process to help you pursue your passion for music education. Below, we outline the application procedure and provide detailed information on the application steps.

Step 1: DOWNLOAD STUDENT NOMINATION FORM

The application process begins with downloading the student nomination form, which can be accessed towards the end of this page (titled Longy Student Nomination Form). The deadline for the Fall 2023 semester is approaching fast, and we are still accepting applications. Download and submit your student nomination form to either Pelayo.Alvarez@unitar.org or clp@gfpa.ngo today!

Step 2: PREPARE APPLICATION MATERIALS

Applicants must submit the following materials as part of their application for admission:

  • Online Application
  • UNITAR Reference ID
  • Artistic Résumé
  • Personal Statement
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • 10 min Video Recording or Video Link of your performance
  • Transcripts – all transcripts must be in English. Applicants must include an unofficial copy of transcripts from prior undergraduate and/or graduate work as part of their application for admissions. Official transcripts are required only after an offer of admission is made and accepted.
  • English Proficiency Scores Requirement– for non-native English speakers only. Unofficial TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Tests are required for the application. Official scores are required only after an offer of admission is accepted.
  • The minimum score is:
    • TOEFL: 63
    • IELTS: 5.5
    • Duolingo: 90
    • Apply for the waiver for English Proficiency Score. You must meet the following criteria.
    • Completing or completing a full-time degree program at a college or university where English is the language of instruction may be grounds for waiving the TOEFL requirement.

Step 3: Written INTERVIEW to gain UNITAR Reference ID (For Non-UN related applicants only)

Non-UN related Applicants will be required to send an email to either Pelayo.Alvarez@unitar.org or clp@gfpa.ngo to schedule a written interview by submitting a minimum 500 words essay, demonstrate what makes you want to study, what makes you qualified to apply, and what you want to do after finishing in this program. Your Written Interview will be carefully reviewed by the UNITAR New York Office and GFPA joint committee, and we will email you your UNITAR Reference ID once your Written INTERVIEW is passed. In addition, you will be required to submit your Proof of Identification with additional supporting material if needed. Please be aware, the written interview is MANDATORY FOR ALL NON-UN RELATED applicants who are seeking to take this opportunity, and spots for Non-UN related applicants are very LIMITED and COMPETITIVE.

Step 4: Complete and Submit Your Online Application

Once your Written Interview is passed, you should complete and submit an online application to the Longy School of Music of Bard at https://apply.longy.edu/portal/uni_app
