27 July, Geneva, Switzerland – UNOSAT and the partners of the GEO-PICTURES project activated their on-line geo-tagging capacity to test the operational capacity of the system in the aftermath of the blast at a munitions dump in southern Cyprus. The blast that killed at least 12 people also caused important damage to the island's largest power station causing widespread power cuts.
12 to 14 July 2011, Benin City, Nigeria. The Government of Edo State Nigeria and UNITAR organized a knowledge sharing workshop on climate change in the Niger Delta Region to enhance capacity and knowledge about the effects of climate change and promote actions to mitigate these effects.

25 July 2011, Vienna, Austria. UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Programme (MDP) continues with its innovative training designs. On 20 July the programme for the first time connected the security-relevant agendas of Vienna-based organizations with the work of the United Nations Security Council in a briefing customized for Vienna-based diplomats.
11-15 July 2001, Panama. The UN Development Group (UNDG), in collaboration with several partners, organized a workshop for the Latin American and Caribbean region to support UN Country Teams in mainstreaming environmental sustainability, climate change, and disaster risk reduction in country programming. The event that took place on 11-15 July 2011 in Panamá was supported by UNITAR with resources from UN CC:Learn.
The International Institute of Humanitarian Law  (IIHL) is an independent, non-profit humanitarian organisation founded in 1970. Its headquarters are situated in Villa Ormond, Sanremo (Italy). The main purpose of the Institute is to promote international humanitarian law, human rights, refugee law and related issues.
June 2010, Geneva, Switzerland - The Duke University Course on Humanitarian Assistance and Human Rights provides each year participants with a thorough introduction to international humanitarian assistance, human rights, and human security. Since a few years the course is hosted at UNITAR and supported by the UNOSAT Team.
On Friday, 22 July 2011, the Economic and Social Council adopted a resolution which acknowledged progress made by UNITAR in a number of areas and expressed encouragement by the growth in beneficiary outreach and the increase in earmarked contributions.
5 to 8 July 2011, Dakar, Senegal – A regional awareness-raising workshop on “Enhancing Cooperation and Coordination for the Implementation of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions” for French-speaking African countries and key stakeholders was held in Dakar from 5 to 8 July 2011, coordinated by the Convention Secretariats.
