The Instituto Nacional de Administração (INA) I.P. is Portugal’s leading institution in the field of public administration, dedicated to building capacity and advancing professional development within the public sector. Through its strategic partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Division for Peace, the INA strengthens its commitment to sustainable governance, policy innovation, and education for peace. This collaboration includes the design and implementation of advanced training programmes and research initiatives that support public administration professionals in navigating complex global challenges while contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Projects & Initiatives:
- (2024) UNITAR 2nd International Research Conference: INA participated in the UNITAR International Research Conference 2024, contributing to the panel "Education for Peace and Sustainability," which explored the role of education, particularly higher education and public administration training, in fostering civic identity, democratic citizenship, and governance for sustainability. Discussions emphasised the need to integrate peace education across all educational levels, equip teachers with tools to create inclusive learning environments and enhance training in public administration to promote effective governance. INA also participated in the panel "Advancing Peace and Development: Addressing Gender-Based Violence, Statelessness, and Sustainability through Higher Education and Policy Innovation."
- Advanced Training for Public Administration: INA collaborates with UNITAR to deliver specialized training programmes focused on public sector leadership, policy innovation, digital transformation, and governance for sustainable development. These initiatives aim to enhance institutional effectiveness and empower public officials with the tools to navigate complex governance challenges.
- Workshop on Promoting International Networks of Innovation and Cooperation in Public Administration Through the SDGs: INA partnered with UNITAR to provide training on international cooperation and innovation networks for public administration professionals. Led by Alexandra Severino (UNITAR), this module explored the role of global collaboration in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering innovative governance strategies.
