29 November 2019, Geneva, Switzerland - The Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) concluded its Sixtieth Session, which convened from 28 to 29 November 2019. Key decisions of the session include adoption of the $88 million programme budget for 2020-2021 and the integration into UNITAR of The Defeat-NCD Partnership with a biennial budget of $31 million. In 2021, we had a quite busy year at UNITAR. We continued to expand our portfolio of free and open online courses, developed additional SDG 3 (good health and well-being)-related programming, concluded agreements with multiple new partners and donors, and we continued developing a great variety of training and capacity development events to empower participants from all over the world.

UNITAR achieved tremendous growth in beneficiaries in 2018, with a total outreach of 84,901 beneficiaries (49 per cent increase over 2017). The Peacekeeping Training Programme, the Green Development and Climate Change Programme, and the Global Network of International Training Centres for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) account for 90 per cent of UNITAR’s overall beneficiaries.
