2021年8月5日・広島 - 昨今の新型コロナウイルスの世界的流行により、持続可能な未来の構築を目指す国際社会において、不測の事態に備える重要性が浮き彫りになりました。こうした背景を踏まえ、今般、国連経済社会局(UNDESA)、国連ユニタール主催、広島県とへいわ創造機構ひろしま(HOPe)の協力により、国連ハイレベル政治フォーラム特別イベントとして「核兵器廃絶と我らの持続可能な未来」を巡るオンラインパネルディスカッションを開催しました。
湯崎英彦氏(広島県知事兼HOPe代表)のビデオメッセージに続き、島田久仁彦氏(HOPeプリンシパル・ディレクター)をモデレーターとして迎え、ニキル・セス氏(国連事務次長補兼国連ユニタール総代表)、ダグラス・ショー氏(核脅威イニシャティブ・シニアコンサルタント)、バンダ・プロスコヴァ氏(プラハビジョン持続可能な安全保障研究所副会長)、鈴木健斗氏(自分ごと化プロジェクト代表)の4名のパネリストが、新型コロナウイルスと核問題という2つの社会課題を巡って討議しました。各パネリストは、国際社会には、目下のパンデミック危機に対応するだけではなく、今回の教訓から学び、核戦争などのリスクの顕在化を防ぐ対策が求められている、と警鐘を鳴らしました。
