11 March, 2021, Hiroshima, Japan - The early months of 2021 have witnessed significant developments in nuclear disarmament efforts, including the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and an extension of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) through 2026. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic is impeding face-to face meetings between delegates, thus stagnating dialogues on nuclear disarmament.
