13 - 17 August 2017, Manama, Bahrain – In cooperation with UNDP in Bahrain and UNIC in Manama, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) successfully implemented a workshop entitled “Effective Participation in the United Nations General Assembly” on 13-17 August in Manama. This training gathered delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain that are going to attend the 72nd General Assembly session in New York on 12 - 25 September 2017, as well as their respective colleagues who will support them from the capital.

Scientists, diplomats and policy makers may profit from a better knowledge of the world of science and its operational models, which in some cases may inspire policies and solutions also in fields other than science.

November and December 2016, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar – Joining forces and expertise, UNITAR and UNDP in Myanmar worked together with the Government of Myanmar and more specifically the Union Civil Service Board to modernize Myanmar’s civil service and enhance its professionalism, efficiency, performance, accountability and representativeness.

Following a series of events that have been jointly organized between UNITAR and the Institut Diplomatique et des Relations Internationales (IDRI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, UNITAR’s Multilateral Diplomacy Programme held a three-day leadership seminar for 17 Algerian diplomats and officials. The long-standing and fruitful collaboration with IDRI has reinforced the individual and institutional capacities of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly in the domain of multilateral diplomacy.

8 September 2016, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will partner with the Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG-Fund) to host an International Conference on “Attaining the SDGs by 2030: Business and the UN, New Partnership Models.” The Conference will be held at UN Headquarters in New York City on 8 September 2016. More than 60 participants are expected. Registration is not closed, however, and the Conference can accommodate up to 100 attendees.
