2 May 2024, Mérida, Mexico – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Merida (CIFAL Merida) successfully concluded its XIX international seminar on hurricane preparedness, bringing together decision-makers from airports in Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. A key objective of the seminar was to analyze and review emergency plans before the hurricane season to ensure that airports remain operational if impacted by a disaster.

2 May 2024, Antwerp, Belgium – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Belgium (CIFAL Flanders) launched the ESG Frontrunners initiative, supported by the Department of Chancellery and Foreign Affairs of the Flemish Government, to offer a structured programme to help organizations navigate complex European regulations like the EU Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDD).

19 April 2024, Plock, Poland – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Plock conducted different road safety activations during the Plock Career and Professional Activity Fair. Employers, entrepreneurs and labour market partners, as well as youngsters participated in the Fair at the Orlen Arena on 18 April 2024.

12 April 2024, Curitiba, Brazil – Throughout March, the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Curitiba jointly with the Education Management and the Social Responsibility Council of the FIEP Group conducted the "Girls in Science" project, which aims to encourage girls' participation in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

8 April 2024, Victoria, Canada - The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in the City of Victoria was established in 2022 as a collaboration between UNITAR and the University of Victoria to deliver training activities and research that build on UVic's commitments to the UN SDGs and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).

8 April 2024 - It is with a heavy heart that we learned of the passing of Mr. Marcel André Boisard, former United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and former Executive Director of UNITAR from 1992 to 2007. The news of his departure has deeply saddened us all.

3 April 2024, Manila, Philippines – the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in the Philippines was established in 2016 through a cooperation agreement between UNITAR and the University of the Philippines (UP) and approved by the UP Board of Regents.

2 April 2024, Jeju, Republic of Korea – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) in Jeju was established in 2010 through a collaboration between UNITAR and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and the International Peace Foundation.

27 March 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – On 22 March 2024, UNITAR proudly announced the launch of UNITAR’s Global Water Academy (UGWA) platform under the auspices of World Water Day during its event entitled “Addressing Water for Peace: The Role of Capacity Building in Water Governance in Conflict and Humanitarian Settings".
