Last week, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) conducted a comprehensive training session on climate change diplomacy in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and key stakeholders in Seychelles. The programme, held from October 31 to November 3, included esteemed participants and experts from various sectors.

6 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - To mark its 60th anniversary, UNITAR is organizing in Geneva, starting on the 2nd of October, a photo exhibition, displayed on the Rotonde du Quai du Mont-Blanc (across from the Brunswick Monument), will illustrate 60 years of history as well as stories of UNITAR alumni who made a positive change in their community. The alumni featured in the panel exhibition come from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kenya, Maldives, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, United Arab Emirates and Vanuatu. The opening ceremony on the 6th of October (4 pm) of the photo exhibition will be attended by Mr. Nikhil Seth, the Executive Director of UNITAR, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Mr. Raymond Loretan, President of the Diplomatic Club of Geneva, and H.E. Mr. Alfonso Gomez, Mayor of Geneva.
04 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is delighted to announce its new partnership with the University of Groningen Business School (UGBS) and the launch of a joint Online Executive Programme on Health Protection, Humanitarian Settings, and International Law. The programme, which is set to start in April of 2024, is primarily designed for professionals aspiring to, or already working in, Medicine, Public Health, and related fields who want to learn more about health protection in emergency and humanitarian contexts, crises, and/or armed conflict settings.

The event, which ran on Monday 25 September and Tuesday 26 September, focused on various aspects of AI, including governance, ethics, education, and the corporate world.
13 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and International Negotiation Agency (ADN Group) will jointly host the much-anticipated Third Edition of World Negotiation Day at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland to bring together the most distinguished dignitaries. This prestigious event will unite the world’s most renowned contributors to peaceful negotiations, conflict resolution, inequality reduction, and climate solutions. In addition to celebrating peaceful conflict resolution and providing a platform for network-building, the event will conclude with an award ceremony in which a carefully selected jury of high-level individuals vote for ‘Best Negotiator of the Year’ in accordance with the UNITAR guidelines. UNITAR and ADN aim to build on the successes of the 2019 and 2021 editions, which brought together over 250 participants each.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and EU Business School are proud to announce the siginig of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the launch of a new Master's Programme in Digital International Relationships and Diplomacy. The MoU solidifies this collaboration, marking a significant step forward in fostering education that aligns with the demands of the digital era. The MoU was successfully signed in a ceremony held at the UNITAR Headquarters in Geneva on 17th August with representatives from both institutions in attendance.
9 August 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - In celebration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous People on August 9th, UNITAR, in collaboration with the Science Diplomacy Center, Springer Nature, and the International Network for Government Science Advice Africa, as well as dozens of other esteemed partners, organized the Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change. This unique event created a platform for Indigenous youth worldwide to collaboratively address climate challenges and explore sustainable solutions.
