7 August 2025, Abuja, Nigeria - In collaboration with Rivers State University and Together for Safer Roads (TSR), UNITAR successfully concluded its “Fleet Safety Regional Training Workshop” in Abuja, Nigeria, on 30-31 July 2025, bringing government officials from the Ministry of Transport of Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), companies operating midsize and large-sized fleets in Nigeria, along with representatives from the Rivers State University. International participants included representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure of The Gambia, municipal leaders from the eThekwini Municipality in South Africa, the City of Dakar in Senegal, and the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services in the USA. Private sector companies operating fleets in the USA, Mozambique, Nigeria and Zambia, along with TSR experts, shared good practices in fleet management and exchanged regional and global road safety approaches.

16 July 2025, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – As part of shared commitment to road safety and education and promoting safer mobility in the Dominican Republic, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), the Liga Municipal Dominicana (LMD), the International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL) Dominican Republic and Pernod Ricard have re-introduced the Autosobriety Training Programme, an initiative focused on raising awareness about the risks of alcohol consumption while driving.

10 July 2025, Geneva, Switzerland - The Safe Mobility 4 All & 4 Life (SM4A4L) initiative first edition has successfully concluded with the graduation ceremony at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, marking an important milestone for road safety efforts across Latin America. Organized by UNITAR in partnership with FIA and with support from the FIA Foundation, the initiative brought together representatives from 13 countries to strengthen capacity, foster collaboration, and co-design projects that address the region’s pressing road safety challenges.

30 June 2025, Rabat, Morocco – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) successfully concluded its third regional workshop on "Future-Proofing Airport Development: Harnessing Technology to Streamline Terminal Operations" in Rabat, Morocco on 24-25 June 2025. The two-day intensive workshop brought together over 30 aviation professionals from 13 countries across Africa, Europe, and North America to explore cutting-edge technologies transforming airport operations.
