Geneva, 26 September 2023: The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) proudly celebrates its 60th anniversary of commitment to multilateral diplomacy, training, research, and empowerment.

28 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – United Nations Institute for Training and Institute (UNITAR) Division for Prosperity will host in partnership with the University of Geneva a public forum "Scaling Responsible Entrepreneurship and Solutions to Global Challenges" on 3 October 2023 at 13:30-17:30 (CEST/UTC+2). It will take place at the UNITAR HQ, WMO Building, in Conference room C2, on the 1st floor in Switzerland. Prior registration is required to attend in person. 

21 September 2023, New York, USA - The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Microsoft East Africa signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support the digital-technology upskilling and reskilling of 5,000 women and youth in sub-Saharan Africa to enhance their employability and livelihoods in the digital economy. The digital up/reskilling and green livelihood programme is funded by the Government and People of Japan and will run until March 2024.

18 September 2023, New York, USA – UNITAR proudly announces the launch of its three hybrid events during the 2023 SDG Summit, under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly entitled, ‘Developing a Blueprint for Civil Society Private Sector Contributions: Towards the Elaboration of a Comprehensive and Integral International Convention on the Rights of Older Persons’; ‘What if Women Designed the City?’; and, ‘Harnessing the power of big data, novel technologies, and international collaboration to address global water insecurity’.

During the Twenty-seventh session of the Intergovernmental Consultative Committee (ICC 27) on the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (25 27 July, 2023) which was hosted by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

13 September 2023, Victoria, Canada - UNITAR is thrilled to present the publication "Youth Championing the SDGs - Living with Climate Change" as a tangible result of the contributions made by UNITAR, CIFAL Victoria, the University of Victoria (UVic), relevant stakeholders, but especially, the UVic's youth community, who took a vital leading role in making this publication a reality to advance climate action.

11 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland ― We are honored to announce a new partnership between UNITAR and two major Turkish universities, Marmara University School of Medicine and the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University School of Medicine, for a collaborative project on value-based healthcare. To facilitate this work, UNITAR has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Turkish Ministry of Health.

7 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - UNITAR and SmarterChains, an online Industry 4.0 transformation platform, are pleased to announce their partnership to establish an online learning platform for Industry 4.0.

6 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - In a concerted effort to address critical issues related to disaster risk reduction, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) hosted the High-level Roundtable Dialogue “Scaling Up Disaster Risk Reduction in Humanitarian Action”, which convened 1,500 + participants from Permanent Missions to the United Nations in Geneva, United Nations country teams, local government networks and disaster risk reduction practitioners. The Roundtable took place at UNITAR’s headquarters offices in Geneva and virtually.

4 September 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR and the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), have strengthened their existing partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU solidifies our commitment to collaborate and cooperate with the goal to make a positive impact on access to plasma-derived therapies worldwide.
