3 June 2022, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR's Division for Multilateral Diplomacy was pleased to receive a visit from a delegation of the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network, sponsored by the Government of Gangwon last month on 16 May 2022. The visit was arranged with the kind support of the Global Hope Network International (GHNI). During a joint tour through the Palais des Nations in Geneva, UNITAR's Division for Multilateral Diplomacy and the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network were exploring avenues of cooperation in the field of Sports Diplomacy and Peace. The visit of the delegation culminated with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Global Inter-Gangwon Cooperation Network and UNITAR.

6 April 2022 - This virtual side event organized by UNITAR, as part of the Crowd4SDG project, brought together passionate stakeholders involved with Citizen Science Data (CSD). Speakers shared their experience working with citizen scientists, as well as enabling the use of CSD by National Statistical Offices and Systems (NSOs and NSSs).

11 April 2022 - Policymakers and Data producers tend to work in silos, disconnected from one another, preventing them to benefit from the synergies and benefits collaborative efforts would bring, especially to advance the SDGs and ensure No One is Left Behind.

To address this disconnect, UNESCAP, PARIS21 and UNITAR respectively developed EPIC, ADAPT and StaTact, three free-standing and complementary data-planning tools intervening at different stages of the data production process and concerned with multi-stakeholder collaboration.

19 May 2022, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office partnered with the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to organize a virtual workshop on the lessons learned from the Special Human Security Report 2022. The workshop was attended by approximately 150 participants who were able to gain further understanding of new threats to human security in the Anthropocene.

18 May 2022, Bangkok, Thailand – With the objective of increasing awareness of the consequences of drink driving, and contribute to change the attitudes of thousands of people towards drink driving by 2030, UNITAR and Diageo launched “Wrong Side of the Road”, which is an anti-drink driving learning experience that allows people to have a conversation with a real drink driver to help them understand the effects of alcohol, and the shame and stigma that comes with drink driving.

13 May 2022, Hiroshima, Japan - Professor Sarah Anyang Agbor has joined the advisory board of the UNITAR Division for Prosperity, bringing her expertise in education and training, especially within the African continent.

On the 5th of April 2022 - As an important input to the 7th STI Forum, to celebrate the launch of the Massive Open Online Course Develop and Implement Science Technology and Innovation for SDG Roadmaps - Level 1, developed by UNITAR and UNDESA's Division of Sustainable Development Goals (UN DESA/DSDG), partners and stakeholders gathered online and discussed its significance, journey and the road ahead for the United Nations Inter-agency Task Team on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (IATT).

11 May 2022, Quito, Ecuador – Road traffic crashes claim 1.35 million lives each year and as many as 50 million more people are injured. They are the eight-leading cause of death across all age groups globally and the number one leading cause among young people aged between 5 and 29 years, costing governments approximately 3% of GDP and 5% in low- and middle-income countries (World Health Organization, WHO 2018).

11 May 2022, Geneva, Switzerland - The Humanitarian Energy Conference (HEC) will take place this year on Monday, 16 May 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda on the day preceding the SEforALL Forum. The HEC is co-hosted by the Steering Group of the Global Platform for Action on Sustainable Energy in Displacement Settings (GPA), Practical Action, and NORCAP with the generous support from the German Federal Foreign Office, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).
