About the Programme

UNITAR

UNITAR Hiroshima Office launched the first programme for South Sudan in 2015. Since then, close to 200 participants from different sectors and regions of South Sudan have completed UNITAR's South Sudan training programmme.

The 2020–2021 UNITAR Building Bridges: Entrepreneurship and Project Planning in South Sudan builds on UNITAR's past experiences and lessons learned to improve the capacity of South Sudanese professionals in entrepreneurship and project planning.

Two-thirds of South Sudan’s population is under the age of 30 and more than 90% of youth lack formal employment. Chronic conflict and unpredictability have shaped its economic prospects. Against this background, UNITAR aims to build the capacity of youth by equipping them with knowledge and skills in project management, leadership, entrepreneurship, and business development, and empower youth in South Sudan to not only create opportunities for themselves but also to act as agents of change.

The programme is conducted with the financial support of the Government and the People of Japan.
