In December 2022 and 2023, the Youth and Women Empowerment team held an iteration of its Women’s Leadership for Peace Programme in partnership with the Senior Women Talent Pipeline, a UN Secretariat initiative which provides recruitment support to a pool of pre-screened senior women leaders interested in a career in UN Peace Operations. The weeklong course held at the Rwanda Peace Academy provides participants with a thorough contextual basis of key challenges faced by senior leadership in UN Peace Operations. By the end of the programme, participants can apply key UN leadership principles to real-world leadership challenges. Through peer-to-peer learning and exchanges with experts, participants were better placed to identify their strengths and weaknesses in their leadership profile.
For me, it was an unforgettable experience! Because women have a lot of challenges in the world in general and particularly in the professional world of peacekeeping. Bringing together women from diverse backgrounds with different expertise is an added value for us participants. We come out of this training with knowledge, and all prerequisites to be able to be leaders today and tomorrow. - 2023 Senior Women Talent Pipeline Participant
Breathtaking! The training delivered by the Senior Women Talent Pipeline in partnership with UNITAR, Rwanda Peace Academy and OIF is of exceptional quality. It offers participants from all over the world the opportunity to get up to speed on the challenges of working in peacekeeping operations, but also to train, in a caring environment, in the latest leadership techniques and trends. I recommend her to all women who aspire to leadership careers in the United Nations. We come out of it and grown in every way! - 2023 Senior Women Talent Pipeline Participant
It was not just a matter of women supporting women, but a matter of talented, highly experienced leaders in their field sharing insights. I do not personally consider this just another networking opportunity, but a building block in our sisterhood and solidarity. - 2022 Senior Women Talent Pipeline Participant
