Seton Hall

The Master in International Affairs and Diplomatic Practice, delivered in partnership with Seton Hall’s University of Diplomacy and International Relations, is an Online Executive Master of Science in International Affairs and Diplomatic Practice program. The programme is designed to be flexible, for professionals who seek to develop additional skills or credentials to move ahead in their careers.

Practitioners will explore contemporary diplomacy against the changing nature of world politics, and investigate the complexities of relationships between different countries. Through a series of seven courses and six modules, students will build upon their knowledge and skills in international security, policy analysis, negotiation and conflict management, and monitoring and evaluation, while developing a functional and/or regional specialty.

Master in Public International Law

UNITAR

The Master in Public International Law, delivered in partnership with the Sigmund Freud University Vienna (SFU), is a new graduate programme that will combine SFU's academic strength with UNITAR´s practical focus and will be implemented on-campus in Vienna with a duration of one year. 

The programme aims at deepening students’ knowledge and skills in international law and provides direct insights into the activities of the United Nations and other international organizations. Apart from the legal qualifications, the joint Master's offers a direct connection to the UN and its agencies. Students can expect to:

The Master of Arts in International Law and Diplomacy (with online and hybrid formats) is a two-year graduate programme delivered in partnership with the University for Peace that allows students to specialise in the interface between international law and diplomacy. The Master of Arts in Development Studies and Diplomacy is an interdisciplinary and holistic programme that will not only broaden student’s knowledge in the field of development studies, sustainability and diplomacy but it will also equip them with the required soft skills for a successful international career in any of these areas of expertise. It is offered both online and in hybrid format on the UPEACE campus in Costa Rica. During this programme, students will analyse the different dimensions of development including, environmental, social, economic and human dimensions as well as the theory and practice of diplomacy in the 21st century. M.A. in International Law and the Settlement of Disputes

International Court of Justice

The Master of Arts in  International Law and the Settlement of Disputes (with on-site, hybrid, and online formats) is a graduate programme that offers students an understanding of the role that international law and institutions play in the settlement of international and transnational disputes. This specialization examines the role of national and international courts and tribunals in contributing to the settlement of disputes. As international and transnational adjudication has acquired a more prominent role in international relations, it is essential to understand how these global and regional courts are responding to the challenges of the early 21st Century. Students will examine the role of international law in the settlement of disputes in a wide array of fields such as human rights, armed conflicts, territorial and maritime border issues, environment and climate change, multilateral trade, investments, amongst others. Students will learn not only the traditional legal processes employed in international and transnational adjudication but also the alternative forms of dispute settlement prevalent in international law. Students will also attend skills development sessions that are designed to support their professional career and employability. 
This master’s degree offered by two UN entities (University for Peace and United Nations Institute for Training and Research) combines the best of academic and executive-style education. Students will also gain first-hand experience of the work of the United Nations (UN) as they will have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to Geneva, and/or The Hague, where the UN maintains a significant presence.

M.A. IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT

The Master of Arts in Gender and Development (hybrid format) aims to equip students with critical knowledge about gender studies in its intersections with development studies, focusing on a variety of topics, including but not limited to, women’s empowerment, queering development, gender in its intersections with environment and development, the interplay of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and disability, among other factors with development work. M.A. in Anti-Corruption and Diplomacy

In today’s globalized and increasingly complex world, multilateral dialogue and cooperation are essential. As such, the nexus and interrelation between Diplomacy and Anti-Corruption efforts is now more important than ever. In this regard, UNITAR has partnered with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) to launch the one-of-a-kind Master of Arts in Anti-Corruption and Diplomacy, a modular postgraduate academic degree conducted over 18 months. The MACD offers a rigorous, diverse, and innovative anti-corruption and diplomacy curriculum, reflecting a variety of academic disciplines and cross-cutting themes relating to economics, ethics, international law, digital and cyber diplomacy as well as essential skills for an international career such as leadership, negotiation skills, and public speaking.

IACA was originally initiated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), INTERPOL, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), the Republic of Austria, and other stakeholders. Executive Diploma in Anti-Corruption and Diplomacy

M.Sc. in Human Rights and Diplomacy

The Master of Science in Human Rights and Diplomacy, delivered in partnership with The University of Stirling, is an interdisciplinary course that combines Law, Philosophy and Politics of human rights. You will learn about the practice and theory of human rights laws and politics, the UN human rights institutions, their history and their philosophical foundations. You will be taught by top human rights researchers and will be given practical training from experienced UN personnel in negotiating draft documents, and learning how to make a difference. The course includes a 5-day study visit to Geneva for all students, to observe the Human Rights Council in session. Additionally, for the final three months of the course, if your profile is strong enough, you will have the opportunity to apply for a highly desirable internship, or else to pursue projects with human rights organisations or to tackle a traditional dissertation.
