私たちは津波というものをまったく知らず、ただの大きな波だと思っていました。そして、ことの成り行きをただ見守っていたのです。海水が外海に引いていくと、環礁が見えるようになりました。まもなく、大津波が押し寄せ、死んだ魚やすべてのものが運ばれてきました。まったく津波に警戒していなかったのです。
