UNITAR Delivers Workshop with Columbia Law School on Women’s Leadership & Negotiation Skills

Innovative capacity development approach combines technology, mapping and academic knowledge in Chad
Since earlier in 2012 UNITAR/UNOSAT and the Swiss Development Cooperation are engaged in implementing a water management and capacity development project in Chad. This project, also known with its francophone name of “ResEAU”, has the ambitious aim of strengthening national capacity in the area of water resources by using mapping combined with capacity development techniques tailored to the local requirements and designed together with Swiss and Chadian partners.

The online training phase (phase one) of the trans-regional capacity building programme for public debt auditors in supreme audit institutions (SAIs) which the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) is undertaking in cooperation with UNITAR and UNCTAD was recently concluded. Thirty-one (31) SAI audit teams (89 persons in total) from Africa, Asia and Europe have been trained in 10 online sessions organized by UNITAR including online virtual discussions for networking and information exchange among participating SAIs.

10 November 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - International experts agree that Cyclone Haiyan that hit the Philippines on 9 November was "probably the most intense and strongest storm of this type to make landfall". While cyclones of this intensity have occurred before, they usually lose part of their strength by the time they reach shore.
