Historically, the role of women in diplomacy has remained marginal, at best, evidenced by the low- though increasing- rates of women’s participation in senior level positions in the UN system. Among diplomats to the UN, currently, women account for 23 of the 192 permanent representatives and observers to United Nations headquarters in New York. 15 August, Geneva, Switzerland - UNOSAT and the European Commission Emergency Response Centre (ERC) are discussing how to take to the next level their collaboration and exchange of information, building on almost 10 years of positive history.
Since 2013 a new Emergency Response Centre (ERC), operated within ECHO, the European Commission Humanitarian Office, has been set up to support better response to disasters both inside and outside the European Union. The Centre is connected to 32 countries participating in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

3 October, Nairobi, Kenya - The capacity development programme being implemented by UNOSAT for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has just entered a new phase oafter the succefful completion of the third round of face-to-face training that took place in Nairobi from 9 to 20 September. The training was hosted in the premises of the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD).
The programme has begun in early 2013, supported by funding from Norway, and has been designed by UNOSAT experts to augment the capacity of IGAD member countries…
