Extended drought is causing a severe food crisis in the Horn of Africa with parts of Somalia so severely affected that no less than 100,000 people are moving within Somalia and towards neighbouring Kenya and Ethiopia in search of emergency assistance. 21 December 2013, Geneva, Switzerland - As Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan, Andrew Harper travels frequently to camps sheltering Syrian refugees. The situation in many of these camps is often harrowing, but nothing like the past few days, when cold weather and snow blizzards hit parts of Jordan and the West Bank, brought by storm "Alexa", which moved through the Middle East region from about 12 to 14 December.
