23 December 2022, Hiroshima, Japan – On October 7, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) signed a collaboration and cooperation memorandum. 本研修では、南スーダン若手から中堅の専門家を対象に、南スーダンの地域のニーズや起業背景に合わせたデザインの作成目的に、イラク国内青年層の知識、スキル、姿勢の成長に向けた方法に焦点を与える１２ヶ月の研修を行っています。
南スーダンの国内人口の３分の２は３０歳未満であり、若者の９０％は正規の雇用につけない状態でいます。多くの南スーダン人が生活のサポートをコミュニティーや家族から得ている状態で、職を得ることは最優先の課題となっています。また、南スーダンは、長い戦乱を経験したことにより、経済が不安定な状況にあります。加えて、政府の支出の多くが軍部に充てられている中、治安の維持が社会の最重要課題となっています。このような南スーダンの状況を考慮し、ユニタール南スーダン奨学プログラムは、南スーダンの青年層のより良い未来のために必要とされるプロジェクトマネジメント、リーダーシップ、そしてビジネススキルを得る機会を研修生へ提供します。

2021年6月10日・広島 ― 新型コロナウイルスの危機は、これまで世界が進めてきた持続可能な開発目標(SDGs)への歩みを妨げ、後戻りさせている。いまだ、パンデミックによる影響の全容は把握しきれていない。一方で、私たちが望む世界を2030年までに実現させるために、どのような行動を起こしていくのか、自身に問いかける機会も与えてくれていると言える。
上智大学のオンラインシンポジウム「コロナ禍のSDGsへのインパクトと今後の展望」での基調講演で、国連事務次長補兼国連ユニタール総代表ニキル・セスはこのように語りました。
上智大学大学院の植木安弘教授がモデレーターを務めたパネルディスカッションでは、国連開発計画（UNDP）インド常駐代表の野田章子氏やUNDP駐日代表の近藤哲生氏を交えて議論。学生など247人がオンラインで聴講しました。
