19 August 2021, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR is pleased to announce that its Division for Prosperity and Japanese sporting goods company SSK Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance the use of sports as a medium of peace and understanding. SSK created a soccer jersey donning the UNITAR logo, and the jerseys were worn by the soccer players during the “Peace Match” held in Hiroshima on 7 August 2021.

Dr Marwa Nofal is a psychiatrist at a public mental health hospital in Egypt.
In 2020, she launched a non-profit organization that brings together mental health professionals to facilitate more mental health research in Egypt and the Middle East and the North African region.
Dr Marwa turned to the UNITAR Entrepreneurship for Public Health and COVID-19 Recovery in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon programme to learn about leadership strategies, entrepreneurship and teamwork.

UNITAR and UNITAR Association invite Hiroshima high school students (grades 10 to 12) to apply to the “2024 UNITAR Hiroshima Youth Ambassador Programme: Leaders for a New Era.”
The programme theme will be centred around nuclear disarmament and peacebuilding. The programme will take place mainly at the UNITAR Hiroshima Office and partially online, from 30 June to 30 August 2024.
