Peace Football Match Held between Afghanistan and Hiroshima Women’s Teams
24 September 2015, Hiroshima, Japan – As part of the UNITAR Leadership and Communication Training Programme, the Afghanistan National Women’s Football team played a friendly peace match with Hiroshima’s women’s team, Ange Violet, on 20 September 2015.
The week-long training programme in Hiroshima has focused on gender empowerment and developing skills and knowledge around leadership, team development, communication and sports psychology. By engaging with the Ange Violet team, the Afghan team was able to examine different training and coaching methodologies; and engage with successful sportspersons to hear personal accounts of challenges, opportunities and leadership for success.
The Afghanistan Women's team give hope and inspire courage in people from all over the world. Through the match, the team cultivated friendship and trust with the local community of Hiroshima. The final score was 0-14.
