29-31 August 2021, Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) successfully hosted a three-day online workshop on the topics "Assertiveness & Influencing" and "Public & Digital Diplomacy." This workshop was conducted in partnership with the Arab Youth Center’s “Young Arab Diplomatic Leaders” program in Abu Dhabi.
The program aims to familiarize young Arab figures with diplomatic culture, helping them engage in international discussions about topics like the environment, economy, and media in the convergence and the rapid growth witnessed by the Arab World.
UNITAR was pleased to virtually welcome 42 junior-mid career diplomats from Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Iraq.

8 September, New York USA, virtual seminar – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Office in New York successfully launched the Joint Swiss-UNITAR Briefing on United Nations Budgetary Matters training series on Tuesday, 7th September 2021. The four-half day virtual training programme, co-organized with the Permanent Mission of Switzerland, caters to the needs of the incoming delegates of the United Nations General Assembly’s Fifth Committee. The first two sessions have directly benefited more than 100 delegates each session from numerous Member States.
7 September 2021, New York, USA – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office successfully implemented its two-day training, the “Transition Workshop for the 76th Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA),” in partnership with the Permanent Missions of Ecuador, Finland, and Malaysia. This workshop was organized to support the Office of the President of the General Assembly in its transition between the 75th and 76th OPGA, and to specifically facilitate opportunities for existing, former, and incoming OPGA staff to share experiences and best practices for a successful transition. This workshop marked UNITAR NYO’s first in-person training workshop since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and was attended by more than 30 delegates, following social distancing measures.
On 13 August, 2021, New York, USA (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office concluded a two-week online training programme with Harbour Education on Friday, August 13, 2021. This online training programme is catered for students who want to develop a better understanding in working in the international organizations. It aims to provide them with necessary knowledge about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations, negotiations and international communications.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research's (UNITAR) office in New York organized a two-day virtual workshop entitled “Advanced Drafting Skills” on 19-20 July 2021. It focused on techniques and ways to maintain goodwill, the use of professional expressions, and UN common language.
Over the past decade or two, increasing efforts have been directed to promote gender equality and empowerment of women in all sectors of society, including women’s participation in leadership and decision-making positions. To contribute to this common objective, the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and UNITAR organised a series of three e-workshops on gender, women’s leadership and mentoring in November and December 2020. The series aimed to strengthen female leaders’ confidence, resilience and leadership capacities, and targeted women and men in leadership positions, with special attention to those working in employers’ and business organisations.
14 July 2021, New York, USA (Virtual) – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York office second series of training on Wednesday, 14 July catered for the members of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ireland. This training aims to prepare government officials for the work and responsibilities of the Security Council. The comprehensive training reached more than 50 government officials from the ministry, embassies around the world, and the capital with necessary knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the work of the United Nations.
