29 July 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – On the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in collaboration with Hiroshima Prefectural Government and the Hiroshima Organization for Peace (HOPe), will hold a youth dialogue for international peace on 6 August 2025. The event will be publicly livestreamed in Japanese and English.
16 July 2025, Hiroshima, Japan - On 12 July 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) welcomed 524 young participants from Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon to the Japan-funded "RISE LAB: Igniting Youth Potential through Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Economic Resilience" training programme. Designed as a multi-phase approach, this programme aims to empower motivated entrepreneurs and leaders, both men and women, from Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon, who are eager to create and implement innovative local solutions to enhance food security and improve the broader private sector.

14 July 2025, Geneva, Switzerland — The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and HP Inc. (HP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly implement an initiative focused on digital inclusion, youth employability, and women’s empowerment through technology and innovation.
Climate change has challenged traditional livelihood strategies, such as agriculture and pastoralism, requiring alternative, resilient livelihood options. To develop capacities that can face these new realities, the UNITAR Division for Prosperity organized the “Developing green livelihoods for women and youth in Africa: Strengthening food security, supporting climate resilient economies” programme. This Impact Story reveals that the programme was useful to participants' needs and that the majority were able to use what they had learned, including participants who started the implementation of their business ideas or project proposals.

Motivated by her goal of joining the United Nations, she participated in the Primary Course of The Programme for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development in early 2025, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and held online and in Hiroshima and Tokyo, Japan, in January and February 2025.

24 June 2025, Shenzhen, China – UNITAR Prosperity Alliance Shenzhen (Greater Bay Area [GBA]) held its inaugural meeting to begin its work in deepening international cooperation and advancing sustainable innovation. It follows the signing of the letter of agreement between UNITAR and Prosperity Alliance Shenzhen (GBA) on 11 April 2025. The inaugural meeting focused on aligning the Alliance’s mission, vision, core objectives and strategic workplan with UNITAR’s mandate.
