12 December 2023, Abidjan, Ivory Coast – Breastfeeding is linked to many of the Sustainable Development Goals. Breastfeeding is, for example, a critical aspect in achieving SDG2 and SDG3 — which include ending hunger, improving nutrition, and promoting health and well-being.

27 November 2023, Durban, South Africa – In collaboration with CIFAL Durban, the eThekwini Municipal Academy (EMA) and its Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE), UNITAR is starting today a series of training workshops on “Management Practices for Safer Roads”. The series starts in Durban on 27 November, followed by Cape Town on 28 November, and Bloemfontein on 30 November.

23 November 2023, Maseru, Lesotho – UNITAR’s international training centre in South Africa (CIFAL Durban) in collaboration with the eThekwini Municipal Academy (EMA), and the Municipal Institute of Learning (MILE) kick-off a series of training workshops scheduled to take place in Lesotho, South Africa, Eswatini, and Namibia.

20 November 2023, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR celebrated the 20th anniversary of the CIFAL Global Network (CGN) since its creation in 2003. Thirty CIFAL training centres gathered at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to celebrate two decades of building capacities in support of local sustainable development and to collectively define a roadmap for the upcoming years.

18 October 2023, Merida, Mexico – The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Merida (CIFAL Merida) in close collaboration with the Secretary of Public Safety of the State of Yucatan (SSP) implemented a series of practical activities to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving amongst high school students in Yucatan.

Health technologies have become a cornerstone in the worldwide pursuit of universal healthcare access. Their multifaceted impact encompasses enhanced healthcare efficiency, extended healthcare services reach, and secure health information sharing. These innovations foster care continuity and reduce medical errors.

6 October 2023, Geneva, Switzerland - To mark its 60th anniversary, UNITAR is organizing in Geneva, starting on the 2nd of October, a photo exhibition, displayed on the Rotonde du Quai du Mont-Blanc (across from the Brunswick Monument), will illustrate 60 years of history as well as stories of UNITAR alumni who made a positive change in their community. The alumni featured in the panel exhibition come from Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kenya, Maldives, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, United Arab Emirates and Vanuatu. The opening ceremony on the 6th of October (4 pm) of the photo exhibition will be attended by Mr. Nikhil Seth, the Executive Director of UNITAR, Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, H.E. Mr. Raymond Loretan, President of the Diplomatic Club of Geneva, and H.E. Mr. Alfonso Gomez, Mayor of Geneva.
