9 December 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The 7th annual Steering Group Meeting of UN SDG:Learn, hosted by UNITAR, gathered representatives from UN SDG:Learn partner organizations on 13 November 2025 to review 2025 progress and shape the platform’s future ahead of 2030.
8 December 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Commercial Legal Service Center jointly ran the Global Responsible Business Accelerator: Enterprise Internationalization Capacity-Building Initiative (9–13 September 2025). Twenty senior corporate executives and entrepreneurs from China – from manufacturing, green technology, infrastructure, and international trade sectors – took part in the phased programme. The accelerator combined governance immersion, corporate visits, and multilateral dialogue to equip them with frameworks and networks for responsible global operations.
4 December 2025, Geneva, Switzerland - On 4 December 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and International Business University (IBU), based in Toronto, Canada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at developing socially conscious, globally competent leaders. This landmark collaboration will embed UNITAR’s expert training and sustainability frameworks directly into IBU’s academic programmes, empowering a new generation of professionals to drive sustainable prosperity.
3 December 2025, Geneva, Switzerland – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) wrapped up their newest course, “Agriculture in Trade Agreements” on 30 October 2025. Delivered in Arabic, this course is the latest development in the 15-year-long UNITAR-FAO partnership.
1 December 2025, Belem, Brazil – On 17 November 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), together with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China (MEE), China Global Television Network (CGTN), and the Prosperity Alliance Shenzhen (GBA), co-hosted a side event “Building Beautiful Low-Carbon Cities Together” during the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belem, Brazil.
26 November 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) held a public workshop, “Building Peace, Block by Block, Minecraft and Hiroshima” in Hiroshima City. This is part of the training programme, “UNITAR SDGs and Digital Futures: Changemaking Through AI/Digital Storytelling.” In addition to showcasing outstanding digital stories created by training participants, young people in Hiroshima joined to explore the city’s journey of reconstruction and the importance of peace through the use of digital tools.
25 November 2025, California, USA – On 10 August 2025, the Global Entrepreneurs Leadership and Youth Leadership Development Forum brought together around 150 top entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and rising youth leaders in the San Francisco Bay Area to chart a course for shared prosperity amidst a backdrop of rapid technological change, climate urgency and shifting geopolitics.
6 October 2025, San Francisco, USA – On 19 August 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) took part in the Global Entrepreneur Leadership and Youth Leadership Round Table, hosted in the San Francisco Bay Area by Prosperity Alliance Singapore (PASG). UNITAR delivered a keynote speech with PASG and the Brotherhood Cup Foundation, a partner of Prosperity Alliance Singapore based in the Bay Area. The event brought together around 150 participants across generations and sectors to explore innovative solutions for global challenges, highlighting youth leadership, sustainable development and cross-sector collaboration.
29 October 2025, Hiroshima, Japan – On 11 October 2025, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) with ITS Education (ITS) launched the 8-week online “UNITAR Youth Ambassador Asia-Pacific Programme 2025 – Future Skills for Grassroots Leadership”. The opening ceremony was joined by 30 motivated youth from 16 countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China including Hong Kong, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Viet Nam.
24 October 2024, Geneva, Switzerland - On United Nations Day, observed every year on 24 October, the research and training institutes of the United Nations reaffirm their essential role in building an integrated, effective, and future-ready UN system that delivers for people. This day marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945 — the founding moment of the Organization — and invites reflection on the UN’s enduring mission to promote peace, development, and human rights and how knowledge and learning support that mission.
