UNOSAT Announces the Sixth Edition of its Popular Master Training in GIS
7 September 2015, Geneva, Switzerland - UNOSAT is pleased to announce the sixth edition of its popular course on “Geo Information in Disaster Situations”: offered in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen’s Master of Disaster Management Programme (MDMA). The course is scheduled to take place from 29 February to 11 March 2016 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The course aims at serving a wide range of professionals working in disaster risk management and who have experience in humanitarian assistance by placing emphasis on the use of geospatial information tools and methodologies in support of humanitarian relief and emergency preparedness. The training methodology focuses on a successful formula combining formal training and experience-based knowledge transfer centred on a balanced approach between theoretical and practical training methods.
According to previous feedback, the learning experience is considered of great value because of its applicability and relevance to professional disaster management, as can be seen in the below short video.
Given the limited number of seats in the course, priority of participation is accorded to applicants who meet the admission criteria of the Master of Disaster Management Programme (MDMA), while the course is also open to external participants. In view of high interest in this course we encourage participants to register early.
Since its creation, the course has benefited over a hundred professionals who UNOSAT has trained under the umbrella of the collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. The Geo-Information in Disaster Situations course gives right to 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) and a certificate from UNITAR.
