UNITAR’s Executive Diploma on Diplomatic Practice Delivers its Third Workshop on Diplomatic Report Writing
24 – 25 November, 2016, Geneva, Switzerland – UNITAR delivered a Diplomatic Report Writing workshop to members of the diplomatic community in Geneva. This workshop is the third in a series of ten activities included in the 2nd Edition of the Executive Diploma in Diplomatic Practice in Geneva, Switzerland.
The main aim of this workshop was to provide participants with the necessary tools to better synthetize information acquired in diplomatic conferences and other meetings, which will be useful when presenting the results and follow-up tasks of these events to national authorities or other relevant stakeholders.
The 20 participants were briefed by Mr. Amr Aljowaily, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for the United Nations Affairs of Egypt and senior consultant for UNITAR, who showed them the essentials of report writing with a focus on the different types of communications needed depending on the recipient and the purpose of the document.
Similarly, Mr. Aljowaly provided a practical approach to the theory with a simulation exercise that allowed participants to apply their newly acquired skills and produce a comprehensive and summarized reports.
All of the participants felt that they met the objectives of the course and would recommend this workshop to their colleagues. Moreover, they expressed their satisfaction and intention to use this new set of skills in their everyday work as diplomats, UN staff and consultants.
