During the launch ceremony, simulcast between Kabul, Phoenix and Hiroshima, Dr. Wali Hamidzada, Director of Training of the Afghan Civil Service Commission (CSC) and a UNITAR partner, an official of Ministry of Finance and Ms. Nassrine Azimi, Director of the UNITAR Hiroshima Office made welcome remarks.
In addition to this year’s Fellows, six Afghan coaches and two Afghan Resource Persons (themselves Fellows in previous years) also attended and made presentations. This, the first day of a four-day long orientation session was co-organized with the Afghan Consultancy Training and Research Association (ACTRA), the Kabul-based organization of UNITAR Hiroshima Fellowship Alumni. Aside from a line-up of sessions in Kabul, Singapore and Hiroshima, the Fellows will also be working with their coaches and be connected to a worldwide mentor network via both audio and video conferencing throughout the seven-month long cycle.
