In furtherance to the UNITAR/ Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) (www.nddc.gov.ng) partnership and the release of 70% of the pledged counterpart fund for the implementation of the UNITAR/NDDC agreed work plan, a training workshop on Leadership and Management was executed in February, 2010. This pragmatic capacity building workshop aimed at initiating and developing, in Senior Commission Officials, a comprehensive view of the overall people management function and of the leadership role and its responsibilities. It was a further step in the direction of officials working together as a team to fulfil the mandate of the Commission. It also aimed to facilitate the effective work of the Commission within the community.
Practical Team Building Exercise Using Chairs
The capacity building activities combined traditional training methods such as presentation by practitioner with interactive, hand-on approaches based on knowledge management and field experiences – a win win partnership indeed.
Cross Section of Participants Listening with Rapt Attention
The entire workshop was very engaging as the participants and facilitators shared experiences together.. Participants acknowledge the depth of the training and presentation by the resource person. They proposed to put to action lessons learnt immediately after the training and longed for more experiences like this in other areas of interest.
