UNITAR Strengthens Knowledge and Training Skills of Future Trainers
26 – 27 February 2015, Geneva, Switzerland – As part of UNITAR’s Core Diplomatic Training activities, a strategic workshop was organized in Geneva to strengthen participants’ training skills for training sessions that they will hold in the near future at their work and for UNITAR. The two-day training event consisted of several presentations that aimed to give participants the ability to design workshops that are adapted to specific target audiences. Each participant had to prepare two presentations prior to the workshop. Moreover, it sought to improve the participants’ skills in engaging audiences by tailoring training activities in a manner that is attentive to a multiplicity of learning styles.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jérôme L’Host who has worked with UNITAR before and is an experienced coach and trainer. He has giving presentations and motivational speeches to numerous organizations in both the public and private sector such as: HEC Geneva, Nestlé and EPFL Chair of Entrepreneurship, amongst others. He is also the Founder and General Manager of The November Company – a training and consulting group.
On the whole, participants were very satisfied with the workshop, with all of them stating that they would recommend it to colleagues and that they had markedly improved their training skills. In summing up the workshop, one of the participants remarked, “overall [the workshop was] very useful and fun,” while another suggested that Jérôme should “facilitate more trainings, he is excellent.” Furthermore, all participants also indicated that the skills they have acquired during the course of the workshop would be transferable in their various professional fields.
