  The Hague Academy of International Law is a centre for research and teaching in public and private international law with the aim of further scientific and advanced studies of the legal aspects of international relations.This mission, which its founders attributed to it in line with the "peace through law" movement, has remained entirely relevant to the present day. In fulfilling its mission, the Academy has succeeded in both preserving its traditions derived from the Hague Peace Conferences of 1899 and 1907 and adapting itself to the most recent needs of a world undergoing profound change. 

The Academy actively promotes the advancement of international law through its well-known summer courses as well as through its highly acclaimed research programmes, seminars for professionals, external programmes as well as publications

UNITAR’s partnerships strategy aims at developing agreements with Academic institutions such as Universities and Research Centres around the world.

The partnership is to develop ties of cooperation, to encourage exchange and collaboration, and to advance education and training in the area of international law in the respective institutions, by pooling resources and expertise and by developing curriculum and learning material in areas of common interest, such as the promotion of international law, they will work towards the integration of related activities and towards the planning and implementation of joint training courses in areas of common interest.
