5-7 August 2019, Bangkok, Thailand- In keeping with its vision of providing the highest quality of training and innovation, the Division for Multilateral Diplomacy of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research successfully held the workshop in Bangkok on Preparing Effectively the Thai delegation for the next session of the United Nations General Assembly. 

There were two objectives of the training course. The first objective was to prepare the Thai delegation, as well as the colleagues liaising from the capital, for the 74th United Nations General Assembly. The second objective was to provide necessary skills to diplomats involved in the United Nations Affairs to perform more effectively in their work, as well as during sessions of the General Assembly. 

The workshop was held from the 5th to 7th August 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, with 25 public officials in attendance. It was facilitated by Amb. Aljowaily and Mr. Jérôme L’host.

Amb. Amr Aljowaily is Egypt’s Ambassador to Serbia. He is also visiting faculty at UNITAR, adjunct faculty in international security at the School of Global Public Affairs of the American University in Cairo, and at Diplo. Mr. Aljowaily’s previous diplomatic postings are New York, Geneva and Washington, DC.

Mr. Jérôme L’host is a dedicated Senior Consultant based in Geneva and Moscow with over 16 years of experience of working internationally with both the Private and the Public Sectors. Throughout his career, he has performed numerous presentations and motivational speeches for HEC Geneva, EPFL Chair of Entrepreneurship, Nestlé, Association pour le Progrès du Management and the Swiss-French Chamber of Commerce.

By the end of the workshop, through discussions and practical exercises, 95% of the participants reported that their awareness of the topic had increased, and all of the participants pointed out that they were likely to apply the new acquired skills and knowledge in their function.

The Division for Multilateral Diplomacy wishes the Thai delegation good luck for the upcoming 74th United Nations General Assembly Session and looks forward to further similar collaborations.
