In conjunction with the Treaty Section of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, UNITAR offers a Seminar on International Treaty Law and Practice for legal advisers in the diplomatic missions at United Nations Headquarters. This two-day seminar will take place in New York on 13 and 14 April 2010.
In light of the challenges countries face in participating in multilateral treaties and as part of the Secretariat’s training and capacity-building assistance, this seminar aims to introduce the participants to the depository process for treaties deposited with the Secretary-General; explain the registration of treaties pursuant to Article 102 of the United Nations Charter and contrast different treaty actions, including reservations and declarations.
