Jointly with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the government of Egypt, UNITAR will hold a MDG Partnership Event on the 20th of September at the UN Headquarters in New York during the United Nations MDG Summit.

The event titled Smarter Partnerships for MDG Achievement: illustrating the potential of MDG 8 will showcase outstanding partnership practices that have contributed to advancing the MDGs in areas of Development, Emergency response and Human Rights.
The discussion will draw on effective partnerships and their concrete contributions to the MDGs in Brazil, Haiti and Egypt for instance. The audience will then be invited to participate in an interactive discussion on how best to tailor partnerships to accelerate MDG achievement in the years to come, in particular through innovative features (South-South cooperation, public-private partnerships, partnerships in fragile states). Voting from delegates and audience participants will contribute to build a “Manifesto for Development” in order to promote smarter partnerships involving a wide range of stakeholders in an increasingly complex world.
High-level personalities from Member States, UN and Civil Society are expected to participate and high potential new partnerships for MDG achievement to be officially announced in the areas of Development and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The side-event will take place in room 5 at UN Headquarters from 10 am until 2.30 pm. A luncheon buffet will be served. For further information please contact marielza.oliveira<at>unitar.org
