13 February 2020, Geneva, Switzerland - As part of the 12th Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) summit, the Marketplace on migration initiatives took place from 21 to 23 January 2020, as a ‘matchmaking mechanism’ between those facing specific policy and practice issues and those providing targeted solutions in migration and development.
In this framework, UNITAR, UNHCR, IOM and UNCTAD organized joint booth aimed at sharing information on how to strengthen the competencies required by policymakers and practitioners for overcoming some of the challenges on economic and social inclusion of migrants and refugees. As part of the information presented, there was shared information on the E-learning course on Entrepreneurship for Migrants and Refugees and The Knowledge Hub on Migration and Sustainable Development.
The booth received visits from delegates of States, governmental and non-governmental Organizations, private sector, as well as other relevant stakeholders. Visitors expressed their appreciation to UNITAR for developing tools aimed at raising awareness and tackling relevant problematics around the world.
