#FreedomToLearn

6 October 2021, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR Division for Prosperity has launched the #FreedomToLearn donation drive with UNITAR Association to boost the financial resilience of women in Afghanistan in these times of heightened uncertainty. The campaign targets residents of Japan.

The funds raised will be used to immediately develop and run a short, free online course for women in Afghanistan. Potential topics for the course include practical skills to help the women run/start their businesses or find work, navigate disinfodemics, and manage stress. It will be offered through EdApp, a microlearning platform suitable for low-data settings.

The campaign will run for one month, managed by UNITAR Association, our national committee in Japan. It comes in response to the many heartening messages from Japan asking how to help the people of Afghanistan.

UNITAR has been supporting the people of Afghanistan for 20 years through its training programmes on entrepreneurship, digital skills, and other Sustainable Development Goal topics. We continue to monitor the situation in Afghanistan and are preparing to restart the next phases of our regular training programmes.

To support this campaign, you can share both personal experience with the people of Afghanistan or your support for inclusive learning opportunities on social media, (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook) the hashtag #FreedomToLearn and the link to the campaign (https://syncable.biz/campaign/1967/), and donate directly.
