UNITAR Hiroshima Launches Community Promotional Video
20 November 2014, Hiroshima, Japan – The UNITAR Hiroshima Office has launched a community outreach promotional video emphasizing the global role that the city and people of Hiroshima play in supporting the UNITAR Hiroshima Office, and promoting sustainable peace messages and activities.
The UNITAR Hiroshima Office is celebrating its 12th year in this eternal city, and is the only UN agency to be represented in the Chugoku region of Japan. In addition to its historic legacy, the city is home to two World Heritage cultural sites – the Hiroshima Peace Memorial (Genbaku Dome) and Itsukushima Shinto Shine – which are featured in the video. The office takes advantage of its unique location and delivers a wide range of training programmes, including its signature Fellowship for Afghanistan programme, and the World Heritage Series.
The video includes a broad snapshot of locations and locals from Hiroshima, as well as people and organizations who support and have been influenced by the UNITAR Hiroshima Office. The video features the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture, the Mayor of Hiroshima City, a priest of Itsukushima Shrine, an atomic bomb survivor, as well as members from the UNITAR Fellowship for Afghanistan, Hiroshima Toyo Carp Baseball Team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima Soccer Team, Hiroshima City International Relations Division, Hiroshima City Park Maintenance Division, Hiroshima City Peace Promotion Team, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Hiroshima University, local restaurants, and local elementary and kindergarten students.
The video has been well-received and aired at a number of public events, including observing the International Day of Peace at a home game of the Hiroshima Toyo Carp Baseball team, and at the “Faces of the Fellowship” Afghanistan Photo Exhibition.
