1 March 2011.  Geneva, Switzeralnd.  UNITAR Executive Director Carlos Lopes met with H.E.  Mr. Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting was intended to familiarize Minister Piromya  with the overall work of the Institute with a view to examining cooperation prospects in various areas, also at a regional level. A tripartite collaboration between the Royal Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNITAR and a third party/potential donor could be envisaged as a possible way to promote regional activities in different areas.

As of 2003 UNITAR has been working closely with the  the Devawongse Varopakam Institute of Foreign Affairs  with regard to the implementation of joint national and regional capacity development activities in the field of diplomatic training.
